Anime Catch-up: Summer 2009 (#3)

Eden of the East (02) – I’m still not really into this.  Hopefully though when Akira wakes up to the possibilities of the situation he has found himself in things will pick up.  Right now it’s kind of looking like it will be a dark twist on the Brewster’s Millions concept! [Watch again? Yes for now.]

Library War (01) – Being a book-geek I was intrigued by the idea of this one – libraries take up arms to defend free speech. – but it’s shōjo so there’s a lot of scenes of girls gossiping about ‘their prince’ and the plot itself is very po-faced and would benefit from a more humorous approach. [Watch again? No.]

The Count of Monte Cristo (01) - Really promising.   Beautifully coloured and rendered artwork/animation which creating a trulydreamlike atmosphere. The plot is based on the Dumas novel and this episode gets off to a great start by plunging the main protagonist straight into a moral dilemma and concludes with a cliff-hanger ending. [Watch again? Definitely.]
